An organ recital and demonstration given by James D. Wetzel on the feast of St. Michael and All Angels.
"Like thunder a voice of iron assails our ears, driving out every other sound." So tenth-century monk Wulfstan of Winchester described the sound of the organ at Winchester, which required two monks to play it and 70 strong men to operate its bellows. Times have changed, but you can still hear this "king of instruments," as Mozart called it, during Feast and Flourish, an organ recital and demonstration series to be held on major feast days of the church year.
