Part of the Trinity Choir's 2009-2010 Season. Stefan Parkman, Guest Conductor. Composers in the small country of Estonia in Northern Europe have produced stunning choral work in the 20th and 21st centuries. This program of virtuosic a cappella music features works by Estonia’s most famous composers: Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, and others. Pärt’s work is known for its tintinnabular repetitions and incorporates the stylistic elements of jazz. Tormis, a prolific composer, bases many of his compositions on traditional Estonian folk songs.
An hour-long free preview; the Trinity Choir performs the full concert on Monday, February 8.
