The Rev. Deacon Robert Zito rzito@trinitywallstreet.org
I'm the Parish Deacon. As with most deacons, I am not paid by the church. I work full time as a partner for a Wall Street law firm. My work for the church is completely volunteer and without any monetary compensation. Because deacons work both in the world and the church, we are thought theologically to have a prophetic voice in communicating the needs of the world to the church and ministering to those needs. In this regard, deacons are at the threshold of the church, welcoming people in with their needs, and seeing them safely back into the world in the form of the dismissal at the conclusion of the Eucharist.
People are always looking for general advice and answers to theological and spiritual questions relating to the mystery of life. I am often approached for spiritual and moral guidance and Biblical application to daily living.
People often ask me how I can be a lawyer and a clergyman at the same time and how the two vocations are compatible. Many questions involve the spiritual life and general advice.
