About The Choir

The Family Choir of Trinity Church is made up of an eclectic group of talented neighborhood singers who come together on a regular basis for music-making.

We offer performance opportunities, fellowship, and creative renewal. The Choir is open to men and women; Trinity Church membership is not required. The Family Choir is under the direction of Julian Wachner, Director of Music and the Arts of Trinity Wall Street. Read more about Julian here.

Goals

  • To build a musical community at Trinity Wall Street for parishioners, staff, and neighborhood residents and workers.
  • To lead congregational singing, not only when singing from the chancel, but also when singing as part of the congregation.
  • To offer an opportunity for a quality, part-time commitment for those seeking to be part of the musical community at Trinity Church

Time Commitment

The Family Choir sings a Sunday morning service monthly in Trinity Church with a one-hour rehearsal prior to the service. Weekly rehearsal is held every Thursday at 6:15pm in the church's choir room.

The Family Choir was originally founded by Dr. Larry King, organist and music director at Trinity from 1968 to 1989. King sought to engage anyone in the congregation who had a desire to sing. The tradition has carried to today.
