E-Book Buddies: Now Recruiting!

October 26, 2011

It was the idea of someone a lot like you: a busy person counted on by many, with more tasks than time on her hands.  But she was someone who also wanted to give back – to do just one small thing that would be important in the life of another.

That’s how E-Book Buddies began. Learning Leaders, the largest volunteer-coordinating organization in New York City, took its traditional book-buddy program virtual, sponsored by a grant from Trinity Wall Street.  Now, a student and buddy read the same book at the same time, writing emails back and forth about it, and building a relationship.  At the end of the season, the buddies meet face to face at one of the liveliest book group discussions you’ll ever be part of.

The pilot season included a Presiding Buddy – Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, and a Suffragan Buddy – Suffragan Bishop of New York Catherine Roskam. This year, the Bishop of New York, Mark S. Sisk will join.

E-Book Buddies is expanding and growing, one buddy at a time. Want to learn more? Be in touch with Anita Chan at achan@trinitywallstreet.org or 212-602-0846.
