LentSpace, a free outdoor cultural space in Hudson Square, is featured in the July 14, 2010, episode of the Bravo reality show Work of Art: The Next Great Artist.
LentSpace is the result of a partnership between Trinity Real Estate and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). Realizing that the land would not be redeveloped for some time, Trinity Real Estate loaned the site to the LMCC, which created the temporary park.
Work of Art follows fourteen aspiring artists as they compete to win a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum. In this episode, Open to the Public, the artists must work together to create a large, outdoor installation piece in just two days.
The episode was filmed in early October 2009, just after LentSpace opened. “LentSpace …offered the perfect setting for Bravo as a private sculpture park that is open to the public daily,” Deborah Sprzeuzkouski, LMCC’s associate director of operations, said. “I think the crew was very interested in the space for how it lent itself to being filmed, as well as the inspiration and opportunities it provided to the contestants.”
Work of Art airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 10/9 Central.
