As it does every year in December, the Trinity Choir performed George Frideric Handel's well known Messiah earlier this week. In a review of this year's concert, the New York Times called the Trinity Choir "superb," and noted that the Trinity Baroque Orchestra "performed commandingly." Watch the concert on-demand here.
This concert marked the first time Julian Wachner, Trinity Wall Street's director of music and the arts, had conducted the Trinity Choir for Messiah. He "succeeded admirably," according to the review, which also noted Trinity's long history with the piece, beginning with parts of the work being performed in the church in 1770. Hi, We were in NY a few years ago on Christmas Eve and walked past Trinity as the Choir was rehearsing for the evening service. we enjoyed the rehearsal and spent the evening at the service, if faulty memory serves me well it was also the commissioning of the replacement organ. Wonderful night, now able to be revisited regularly via your online videos- I've just watched the Messiah. Thank you very much, regards Glen Wallace, Sydney Australia

I actually work in the audio department at Trinity and was fortunate to be working the night of this performance. If you feel that in this age of iTunes that an hour and a half is a long amount of time to commit to listening to something, then I suggest, for now, you just go to the stream and play from 1:25:50, where the Amen chorus begins. It gives me chills every time.
