Richard Upjohn's World

June 1, 2010
The time has come to build a Richard Upjohn resource online, and we can do it together. There are hundreds of Upjohn churches in this country, and yet no exhaustive online listing of them exists. Whether your favorite Upjohn church is big or small, stone or wood, rural or urban, this will be fun, informative, and it will ensure Upjohn’s particular genius makes its way into the digital age.

If you know of a church that was built by Richard Upjohn, the Upjohn firm, or with reference to Upjohn’s Rural Architecture book of designs, click the "ADD" button in the upper-right corner of the map. You’ll find easy ways to enter what you know – church name, location, pictures, and links – on a map.

It’s a new exercise in church cartography: the web’s first and only collaborative Richard Upjohn mapping project. As entries come in, the map will become a fascinating picture of Upjohn’s influence, and a resource for historians and architects in the years to come.

Contribute to the Map

Click the "ADD" button in the upper-right corner of the map and a box will pop up that allows you to submit the information. You'll want to have the church's address handy, as well as any photos or video you'd like to submit.
