The Trinity Choristers are Growing

February 1, 2006

Trinity’s Music Department was particularly busy in the last months of 2005 with the development of the Trinity Choristers, the parish's new community-based youth choir program.

The Trinity Choristers has three choirs: a girl choir (ages 7-12); a boy choir (ages 7-12); and a combined high school choir (ages 13-18).

On December 12 the girls of the high school choir participated in a joint project with the Princeton Girlchoir in the Rockefeller Center atrium, where they had the rare opportunity to sing with EMI recording artist Ricky Fante and were able to meet rap sensation Jay-Z.

The Choristers had their Sunday service debut at the 9 am Eucharist at Trinity Church on December 18. In addition, they went caroling on December 22 to St. Margaret’s House and sang as part of the Christmas Eve Family Eucharist at St. Paul’s Chapel.

The Trinity Choristers program has had a very exciting beginning and the choirs are looking forward to much more in 2006, including assisting with music at the 9 am Sunday morning Eucharist on a regular basis. Thus far, there are nearly 40 choristers in the program, but there’s always room for more, notes Choristers director Robert Ridgell.
