The sun shines, the rain falls, the seeds grow. And we have food to eat.

We struggle to commune with the cosmic, and to live with each other. There is a wonderful simplicity to life.

We saw that when we traveled to Oxnard, California to produce the Anglican Communion Story to which you can link from this page.

When you watch this segment, you’ll see Michael McGuinnes’ stunning video of the verdant farmland of coastal California and editor Anthony Indelicato’s artful crafting of those images with the words of four inspiring young women, and two others who serve as their mentors. They’re all part of the Abundant Table Farm Project, funded by a grant from Trinity Wall Street.

These women have committed themselves to living in what is called “intentional community”-- growing food both for their needs and to feed the community around them, converting the land from traditional to organic farming, and including prayer in all they do.

We had the privilege of joining in their work for a couple of days -- washing the dirt off newly-harvested carrots, enjoying their homemade kale soup, sharing Holy Communion around their living room sofa.

The women of the Abundant Table Farm Project have not only recognized that which is primal and fundamental to our lives. They’re living it, and celebrating it.

And they’re teaching an essential lesson in simplicity and sustainability. The planet, and all of us riding on it, can benefit from a lot more of both!
