Johann Sebastian Bach Mass In B Minor

Andrew Megill, Guest Conductor
with Rebel Baroque Orchestra

Bach brings the ancient words of the Mass to life, capturing with unmatched depth and clarity, humanity's relationship to the divine. Unlike most of his compositions, Bach's Mass in B Minor was written for purely personal reasons. It is not only one of the greatest works of history, but a truly modern work, with much to teach us about how to live in our own time.

Andrew Megill's "...performances leave the audience gasping in amazement." -Classical New Jersey

George Frideric Handel Messiah

Andrew Megill, Guest Conductor
with Rebel Baroque Orchestra

America first fell in love with Handel's masterpiece when portions of the oratorio received a New World premiere at Trinity Church in 1770 as a rent party for the organist. Every year since, New Yorkers have reveled in Messiah's splendor and majesty. The Trinity Choir-a collection of extraordinary young singers, all of whom are soloists in their own right-shares its compelling and dramatic reading of this timeless work.

"A Messiah to beat in a season bursting with them." -The New York Times

Domenico Scarlatti Stabat Mater Dietrich Buxtehude Membra Jesu Nostri Johann Sebastian Bach Jesu, Meine Freude

Andrew Megill, Conductor

Three distinctive works give definition to the season of Lent. Scarlatti's dramatic Stabat Mater was written for the choir of the Sistine Chapel, one of the great choirs of Scarlatti's age. Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri is a cycle of seven short cantatas for choir and strings, each a meditation on one of the seven wounds of Christ with passages reflecting on his hands, feet, knees, heart, side, head, and breast. Bach's beloved Jesu, meine Freude traces a spiritual journey from despair to redemption.

"...voices so pure they suggest a seraphic chorus beyond the human sphere." -The New York Times

Music From The Cathedral Of Angels - Masterpieces Of The Latin American Baroque

Eric Milnes, Guest Conductor | Read Bio (pdf)
with Rebel Baroque Orchestra

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Latin America was home to a vibrant, inventive musical culture. Jesuits brought musical traditions of Europe to the New World, where they mixed with the strong rhythms and unbridled energy of native musical traditions. Hear European Renaissance polyphony mixed with Afro-Cuban dance rhythms, as well as villancicos-Spanish-language works drawing on the native and folk music of the New World.

Rebel Baroque Orchestra is "sophisticated and beguiling."
