Keeping Guests Healthy

Trinity Retreat CenterWe are so excited to welcome guests back to Trinity Retreat Center for a time of healing, joy and reflection this summer. The following includes details about what to expect regarding check-in, activities and meals in order to insure you and all visitors are safe and healthy as we enter a new day together. There will be new practices in place and we ask that you embrace a willingness for change and adaptability in our community’s customary loving way.
 

Overview of Precautions

  • All guests must agree to and sign our community covenant agreement. Read and download it here.
  • All guests will undergo temperature checks and health screenings upon arrival.
  • All guests must be symptom-free from any illness and must not have traveled from or through the 31 states that are a part of Connecticut's travel advisory within 14 days of arrival. Please stay home if you or anyone in your household have had a sore throat, cough, chills, body aches for unknown reasons, shortness of breath for unknown reasons, loss of smell, loss of taste, fever greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • A maximum of 25 guests will stay at the Trinity Retreat Center at a given time.
  • Activities and services will be held outdoors as much as possible.
  • Meals will be served individually packaged and taken to go.
  • Rooms and common areas will be cleaned and sanitized by staff frequently.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available around the retreat center campus and buildings.
  • Small indoor gatherings will be limited to 4-16 people depending on the space, while maintaining six feet of social distance.
  • All guests ages 2 and up must wear masks in indoor public areas.
  • Guests should wear makes outdoors if they can’t maintain six feet of distance.
 

Before You Arrive

Packing List

In addition to clothes and toiletries, we recommend you bring the following items. The retreat center provides shampoo, bodywash, handsoap, linens, towels, and hand sanitizer stations. We will also have masks on hand, if needed.

  • Reusable bag(s) for transporting food from the new TRC Canteen
  • Fishing gear
 

Upon Arrival

Please drive your vehicle directly to the lobby parking lot for check-in. Before you get out of your car, please call our front desk at 917-750-6692 to let us know of your arrival. If you do not have Verizon service, you may want to call about 15 minutes before you arrive at the retreat center, so that we can be on the lookout for your car.

A team member will come to your car with a non-contact thermometer to take the temperature of each guest, and after answering several questions about your health status, you will be provided your room assignment and a key.
 

Food & Beverage

During this period of social distancing, we will not be able to serve our traditional family-style meals. TRC Canteen, a new concept located in the Dining Room, is the pickup location for meals, which should be eaten in designated areas or outside, while respecting social distancing guidelines.

Utensils and glassware will be provided. The Canteen will be open from 8am–9am and again from 12pm–1pm and 5:30pm–6:30pm for meal pickups. We will also offer snacks available for purchase throughout the day, including cold drinks of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties, and additional signature TRC items. Please note that some of these items may be limited, and the selection will vary with availability.

Each day, the menus will be written on the wall in the Blackboard Room. If you have special dietary restriction, please notify us at retreat@trinitywallstreet.org no later than two days before your arrival. Utensils and dishes will need to be returned to the bus tubes at the end of each meal. In this new day of single serve and disposable packaging, we are doing our best to be sustainable where we can. 

We won't be able to offer self-serve coffee and tea. Instead, the Canteen will include a coffee bar that will be staffed by retreat center employees to take orders for coffee and tea throughout the day beginning at 7am.

When picking up meals from the Canteen, please send only one member from your family at a time. Lunches will be served cold. Dinners will be available for pickup from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and will be served at ready-to-eat temperature.
 

Activities

Trinity Retreat CenterRespecting social distancing guidelines (wearing masks and staying six feet apart from non-family members) and in numbers of 10 or less, you or your group may enjoy the following activities.

Nature Hikes and Walking Trails

Please be respectful on the trails. If you meet another group, pause to let them go by and get a reasonable distance ahead before you continue on your path.

“Pray in Place” Outdoor Worship

Use of our historic stone chapel will be limited to very small groups. The retreat center has an established outdoor chapel, a labyrinth, a monastic garden, and more than 300 acres of land for outdoor worship and contemplation. Our worship team will lead morning and evening prayer services, including our traditional campfire Compline. Unfortunately, singing will not be allowed.

Your group may also reserve times for the following activities:

  • Swimming at Cream Hill Lake, based on availability
  • Rafting
  • Campfire with private S’mores kits at our two locations
  • Bicycling with electric-assist rentals from Covered Bridge Electric Bikes
  • Guided nature walks
  • Art workshops
  • Bible study

All recreation equipment will need to be checked out from the Rec Shack. Books taken from the Main House library will need to be returned to the front desk. Please do not return them on your own.
 

Housekeeping

Before your arrival our housekeeping staff thoroughly cleans your room following CDC best practices and recommended guidelines. We leave each room untouched for 24+ hours between guests. Bed linens and towels will be provided. Housekeeping will not clean your accommodation each day, but additional towels and linens will be available for pickup.

Please call 917-750-6692 during your stay to arrange for new linens and towels. One of our team members will let you know your pickup location when you call to make your request. A front desk team member will be available 7am to 9pm each day.

Upon check-out, leave all bed linens and towels out. Our staff will remove them from your rooms. Trash should be placed in bins and furniture arranged as it was at check-in. Proper trash disposal is critically important. Wildlife is thriving in West Cornwall; consequently, we must take all appropriate precautions to properly dispose of trash.

A housekeeping charge will be applied to your final bill if you fail to honor the established check-out times, or if your accommodation is not left in good order. Some situations that would trigger a charge being applied could include furniture being extensively rearranged, arts and crafts (such as clay, playdough, paint) left on floors, excessive trash or dirt, furniture taken from other buildings on campus, etc. We appreciate your help in keeping TRC looking its best for all of our guests, present and future.
 

Upon Departure

Once the requested housekeeping procedures are complete, please leave your key on the desk in your room and call 917-750-6692 to notify us of your departure. We will leave each room untouched for twenty-four hours before our housekeeping team enters. Once our team has cleaned your room and has reported that all items were left in good order, your card will be charged for your reservation.

You will receive an email once this is complete, as well as a feedback form with some questions about your stay. We ask that you take the time to fill this out and give us your honest feedback about your retreat. Your feedback will help us to adapt and grow in this new day of hospitality and ministry.

Cancellations

As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together, you will receive a full refund if you must cancel a retreat due to restrictions or illness caused by the novel coronavirus.


If the CDC, Connecticut, or Trinity Church Wall Street requirements change, these arrangements may need to be revised in order for Trinity Retreat Center to comply with those requirements.
