Episcopal Explained: Evensong

Evensong in All Saints Chapel

Evensong is a version of Evening Prayer in which most of the service is chanted or sung. Evening Prayer, which is found in the Book of Common Prayer, is a service from the Daily Office (a daily liturgy) said in the late afternoon or early evening. The service may be led by a layperson.

Evensong occurs at Trinity Church on Thursdays at 5:15pm in the Chapel of All Saints, with an officiant who directs the assembly in prayer, volunteers from the congregation who read the scripture lessons, and a cantor who leads the singing of canticles, psalms, and hymns. The service lasts about 30 minutes. All are welcome!
