Family Fun at Skate & Serve

Stephanie Chrispin

Trinity Church Wall Street and Go! Sports USA teamed up again to host the second annual Skate & Serve at LES Coleman Skate Park on October 9, 2019.

Children gear up for skating lessons at LES Coleman Skate Park.

Families started the afternoon by packing lunches with Trinity's Brown Bag Ministry. Working in pairs, children and parents decorated and prepared 400 Brown Bags for distribution.

Volunteers teamed up to prepare brown bag lunches to share with those in need in the Lower Manhattan community.

Go! Sports USA offered free inline skate rentals and skating lessons for program participants. They learned how to correctly put on and fasten inline skates, along with proper skating form and how to fall safely.

Go! Sports USA instructors Jesus Medina (L) and Pablo Muñoz (R) teach students how to check that their elbow pads are secured before skating.

Go! Sports USA instructor Jesus Medina demonstrates how to get up safely while wearing inline skates.

Following the free skate session, we united in a drum circle to close out the afternoon to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and generosity.

Trinity staff members Metha Balasquides and Ruth Frey lead the group drum circle.
