Voices from the Trinity community

Trinity Community Gives Thanks and Gives Back

As the holidays approach, Trinity is collecting shoes for scholarship students in Haiti, coloring books for kids in New Orleans, winter coats for the children of formerly incarcerated women in New York City, and more with the Giving Tree. The Christmas gifts will go to the children and youth from Trinity’s mission partners in New Orleans, Panama, Haiti, and Burundi. Trinity is also collecting toiletries for Brown Bag Lunch clients, some of whom are homeless.

This is fourth year Trinity has collected gifts with the Giving Tree. It’s easy to participate. Just take a "leaf", buy the gift listed, and return it to the collection box next to the tree. The trees are located inside St. Paul’s Chapel, the Parish Center, and Trinity’s offices. For more information about the Giving Tree contact Alyssa Panzarino at

The Giving Tree is part of a larger effort by the Trinity community called Give Thanks and Give Back. The project is designed to serve Trinity’s partners and Brown Bag clients as well as bring together the Trinity community in service.

As part of the program, the Trinity Preschool, Trinity Real Estate, and the Sunday School and Youth program participants are collecting snacks for Brown Bag clients and canned foods for a Thanksgiving meal, such as cranberry sauce and green beans. Many Trinity staff are also volunteering to distribute Brown Bag Lunches. Lunches are served Thursday through Tuesday to people in need of a meal at Trinity and St. Paul’s.

In addition, community members are invited to donate uncooked turkeys for a Turkey Drop. “Turkey Tickets” are available at every Sunday service throughout the month of November. Simply fill out your info and drop it in the box labeled “Turkey Drop Event” at Trinity Church, Saint Paul’s Chapel, or the Parish Center. Bring your turkey to the event on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, between 9am and 10am in St. Paul's Chapel. If you know of anyone who might need a turkey on Thanksgiving, email Mandy Culbreath at

On Thanksgiving Day, Brown Bag Lunch clients will also be served a hot meal in the Parish Center.
