Nominees to the 2021-2024 Congregational Council
The Congregational Nominating & Leadership Development Committee is pleased to place on the ballot the persons listed below for election to five positions on the Congregational Council. Candidates for the 2021-2024 Congregational Council are:
Cindy Jay, Beth Johanning, Keith Klein, Eric Love, David Ward
Furthermore, we are pleased to present the names of nominees to serve as delegates to the 2021 Diocesan Convention. Nominees for delegates to Diocesan Convention: Scott Evenbeck, Roslyn Hall, and Donato Mallano.
Voting will take place by mail. The results will be announced March 7, 2021 at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation.

Council Elections, Annual Meeting
1pm, March 7, Online
Eligible members can cast their vote for Congregational Council candidates and Delegates to the Diocesan Convention by returning a ballot via the U.S. Postal Service by March 5, 2021. As defined in the Ordinances persons entitled to vote: “All persons who on the date of an annual election shall have attained the age of 18 years and who, for the period of one year preceding such annual election shall have been duly enrolled on the Congregation’s records as members of the Congregation and shall have partaken of the Holy Communion within said year in the Parish and who shall have contributed to the support of the Parish by a recorded gift of any amount in the preceding year, and no other persons, shall be entitled to vote at such annual election.” If you do not receive a ballot package by February 22 and believe this is an error, please contact Keisha Joseph at kjoseph@trinitywallstreet.org. The ballots will be collected and counted and the results of the vote will be announced at the Annual Meeting. Additionally, Council Standing Committee chairs will provide Committee updates. Candidates
Cindy Jay
Cindy first came to Trinity Church in 2000. During these past years, she’s been involved with a number of activities to help contribute to the church’s mission and vision. Cindy started working as a volunteer in the Trinity Welcome Center (gift shop) as it was known then. She became involved with welcome and hospitality, heading up the Welcome Committee and learning about and developing ways to welcome and include people from all walks of life in Trinity’s parish life. She has served on the Congregational Council for two terms, chairing the Community Committee and creating the Nature & Spirituality small group. Cindy has participated in Mission and Service Trips to Panama five times and, in 2016, served on the Partner Roundtable held in Panama with country partner heads to work on our Mission & Service vision for the future. She has been on several pilgrimages in the United states and to the Isle of Iona in Scotland. Cindy serves as a lector and intercessor and truly enjoys being part of the liturgy reading program for the church.
Professionally, Cindy works in health care in marketing and communication, business development, wellness programming, and operational functions and has been part of the dynamic health care transformation process over the past years. In her spare time, Cindy is an avid worldwide hiker, practices yoga, and cooks. She believes she can add value during this transformative period in the church’s life and history through experience, independent and creative thinking, a world (and local) perspective, and love of God and all humanity.
Beth Johanning
In the summer of 2017 while coming up out of the subway, Beth Johanning heard the tower bells pealing, and has attended Trinity Church ever since. She has served as a member of the St. Paul’s Chapel Choir, Thursday Evensong officiant, lector, a member of the Trinity Cares Team, and is currently enrolled in the Trinity-sponsored Education for Ministry class.
An Ohio native, Beth attended College Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, earning Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. After working eight years in Germany as a singer, she moved to New York City and discovered a love for teaching and choral conducting.
Beth has taught in high schools, founded and fostered extracurricular youth choirs, and directed ensembles as an adjunct at Wagner College, Staten Island. In 2011, Beth founded Voyces, a not-for-profit early music vocal ensemble. The volunteer ensemble, together with youth affiliate Young Voyces, was active until the pandemic hiatus.
Beth’s husband, Robert Hayes, is a Battalion Chief on the FDNY and they have an 18-year-old son, John.
Beth would be honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Trinity Congregational Council.
Keith Klein
Keith Klein has been a member of Trinity for almost 10 years. Keith is chair of the Stewardship committee and the subcommittee for Sunday Suppers. He has served as chair of the Community Standing Committee and as vice president of the Congregational Council. In pre-pandemic times, Keith and his family attended the 9:15am service at St. Paul’s Chapel and sometimes the 11:15am service at Trinity.
Eric Love
Eric Love has attended Trinity Church Wall Street since moving to New York in 2018, and regularly attends the 11:15am Sunday service where he often volunteers as a lector. He is also a member of the Vestry Nominating Committee. Professionally, Eric is an attorney at the law firm Jones Day, where he focuses on the formation, operation, and regulation of private investment funds and on the regulation of private fund managers, investment advisers, broker-dealers, and companies operating in the fintech industry. Prior to joining Jones Day, Eric practiced law at an international law firm in Washington, D.C. Before practicing law, he was an official at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and worked for a senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives for six years in a number of positions of increasing responsibility. Eric maintains an active pro bono practice, and is currently representing clients in immigration and family law matters. He also serves on the board of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association.
David Ward
David and his wife, Susan, have been members of Trinity Church for almost 20 years. For most of that time he has served as an acolyte, and is very happy to participate in the liturgy. Most recently he has served as vice president of the Congregational Council. A few years ago, he began the Environmental Justice subcommittee, and he has chaired the Community Outreach Committee, part of the Witness & Outreach Standing Committee. He has also been involved in Trinity’s mission to develop a supportive relationship with Kianga House, a home for single mothers. He’s interested in social justice issues, particularly how climate change affects the less privileged, and in our stewardship of the Earth.
2021 Nominees for Delegates to Diocesan Convention
Scott Evenbeck
Scott Evenbeck has been a member of the parish since 2011. He has represented Trinity at Diocesan Convention and served many years as a Deputy to General Convention, co-chairing the committee on education. He is president of the Church Club and of U.S. Friends of Gladstone’s Library. He is vice chair of the Executive Council Committee of HBCU and a board member for the Association of Episcopal Colleges. He is president of Guttman Community College, earning his baccalaureate degree at Indiana University and his master’s and doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Roslyn “Roz” Hall
A member since 1987, Roz regularly attended the 9am service. Memberships and activities include co-chair of Task Force Against Racism and Prison Ministries, member of Discovery Adult Education Committee, New Beginnings, Knitting Group. She has served as lector, oblation bearer, intercessor and lay eucharistic minister; delegate to Diocesan Convention 2011-present; member, Diocesan Anti-Racism Committee.
Donato Mallano
Donato has attended Trinity Church Wall Street since 1988, and has been active with congregational programs over the years including helping to set up the Brown Bag Lunch program, serving two terms on the Congregational Council, acting as a representative to the Real Estate Committee, serving on the rejuvenation construction review committee, co-chairing the Visual Arts program, acting as delegate to 2020 Diocesan Convention, and participating in Trinity Cares, 2020 Get out the vote, Council Nominating and Leadership Committee, and volunteering for Sunday services.
Donato has been in software services for more than 20 years, most recently with Kualitatem, working with organizations on their digital transformation programs, launching new services in BFSI, retail, media-entertainment, and technology for product engineering and testing services.
Donato lives on Staten Island with his family—Jennifer, Brielle, Olivia, Matthew, and family dog Summer—while enjoying the outdoors, music, and cooking; staying involved with his daughters' film careers; and being a good neighbor.
Eligibility to Vote: All members of the parish over the age of 18 who have made any financial contribution in the past year are eligible to vote in this year’s election for Congregational Council and Delegates to Diocesan Convention.
