Rector Lupfer on Leadership and Speaking with One Voice

Trinity Church Wall Street is committed to the mission of working with partners to develop leadership.

That was the pledge Friday from Trinity’s Rector, the Rev. Dr. William Lupfer, in his opening greeting to the annual meeting of Trinity’s partners in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Nearly two hundred people have gathered in Curitiba, Brazil, with a focus on identifying and equipping emerging leaders for the church.

“We will work with you to find emerging leaders, work with you to build them up, and then network those leaders,” Dr. Lupfer said.

Trinity’s annual meeting with its Latin America and Caribbean partners will run for six days and includes panel discussions, Bible study, and daily worship, all of which concentrate on the theme of leadership.

One of almost 20 Bible study groups gathered on Friday morning October 25 to explore the scripture in Luke 10:1-11.

These annual meetings began in 2015 in Brazil and have since been held in Panamá, Jamaica, and Colombia. The Rev. Dr. Mark Bozzuti-Jones, one of Trinity’s Strategic Clergy, organizes the partnerships within Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since 2015, Dr. Lupfer has led Trinity in an exploration of its strategic initiatives by consulting with its partners and concluded that on the subject of leadership “the Anglican Church leaders are speaking with one voice.”

Dr. Lupfer concluded his remarks with a word of encouragement to partners to develop an attitude of trusting in abundance.

“You have more resources than you think, and when you work together you begin to see those resources.”
