The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Time have named Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom one of the top 10 best books of 2018. Award-winning historian and Yale professor David Blight’s lifelong interest in Douglass has produced an impressive biography that sheds light into the last thirty years of Douglass’s life, based on letters and papers housed in a private collection which no biographer has previously referenced.
