Compline by Candlelight

Compline by Candlelight

When:
8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, September 08, 2013
Where:
  • St. Paul's Chapel

A candlelit service of music and prayers, based on the liturgy used for centuries by monastic communities to end the day. It is both ancient and contemporary, with chant and newly-composed music sung by members of the Trinity Choir. Every Sunday at 8pm.

This fall, as part of Trinity Wall Street’s Celebrating Britten festival, Compline services will feature works by the versatile and prolific composer, Benjamin Britten, in honor of his 100th birthday. For more information about the festival, trinitywallstreet.org/britten. To find out more about Benjamin Britten, and the Britten-Pears Foundation’s worldwide birthday celebration, visit britten100.org.

It is night after a long day. What has been done has been done; what has not been done has not been done; let it be.

-From the New Zealand Prayer Book
