National Youth Choir of Scotland Concert

Christopher Bell, conductor
Tippett - Five Spirituals from A Child of Our Time
Musgrave - On the Underground Set 2: The Strange and the Exotic
Whitacre - When David Heard
Ešenvalds - Amazing Grace

Under founder and award-winning conductor Christopher Bell (Artistic Director, Washington Chorus and Chorus Director, Grant Park Music Festival, Chicago), the National Youth Choir of Scotland performs an impassioned programme – from Tippett’s moving prayers for peace to the lush harmonies of Ešenvalds Amazing Grace, by way of the raw emotional impact of Eric Whitacre’s Biblical lament. The Choir also brings to life the witty settings of strange and exotic poems from the London Underground by renowned Scottish composer Thea Musgrave.

Quite simply one of the world’s most exceptional youth choruses, the National Youth Choir of Scotland brings together outstanding young singers aged 16 to 25. It is internationally renowned for the detail, power and passion of its vivid music making, and has a long history of acclaimed performances.

Free and open to all.
