Environmental Justice Group: Maya Lin Exhibit

The Environmental Justice group is organizing a trip to view Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing, an exhibition focusing on the theme of the Hudson River, on view at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers.

Maya Lin is an American designer, architect, and artist who works in sculpture and land art. She achieved national recognition at the age of 21 while still an undergraduate at Yale University, when her design for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. was chosen in a national competition.  She is also a staunch environmentalist who is obsessed with the effects of climate change and the geology and topography of rivers. She sees and interprets the natural world through art, science, history, and culture.

The exhibition presents twelve works, with continuous focus on bodies of water. The exhibition also includes What is Missing?, Lin’s ongoing interactive digital art project and environmental advocacy movement.

Each person is responsible for their own Metro North round-trip fare; museum admission will be covered by the Environmental Justice Group. Attendance is limited to 15 people. Email David Ward to RSVP and learn travel details.
