St. Francis’s “Sermon to the Birds” - Online Only
This morning prayer service streamed from the Trinity Forest will include a reading of St. Francis’ famous 13th century “Sermon to the Birds.” The sermon is thought to be the patron saint of animals’ first sermon after he received a commission to spend his life preaching the gospel. The story goes that Francis noticed that a huge flock of birds had gathered in some trees beside a field. Francis noticed that the birds were watching him as if they were expecting something. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he decided to preach a sermon about God’s love for them.
