A Freedom Oratorio: From Prison to Release

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, December 11, 2017
  • St. Paul's Chapel

Formerly incarcerated men and family members share their stories

Framed by Dante’s journey from Inferno through Purgatory to Paradise, survivors of the criminal justice system recount their journeys from prison to release. Their stories will be accompanied by fragments of Dante’s Divine Comedy, set to music and performed by Frances Pollock.

Inspired by Larry White’s prison survival manual, Hope Lives for Lifers. Presented by American Friends Service Committee’s Healing Justice Program with Yale Divinity School’s Institute of Sacred Music, with support from Trinity Church Wall Street.

Followed by a discussion facilitated by Ron Jenkins, Visiting Professor of Religion and the Arts, Institute of Sacred Music, Yale Divinity School.
