Stewardship 2018: The Core Value of Stewardship
Trinity Annual Pledge Appeal
We define stewardship as the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to our care. For more than three centuries, the leaders of Trinity Church have provided effective stewardship of a tremendous legacy, allowing the church to extend an extraordinary range of ministries and programs to our neighborhood, New York City, around the country, and in many places throughout the world.
Members of Trinity’s congregation practice faithful stewardship, taking a leadership role in bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world by giving generously of their time, talent, and treasure in the spirit of Christ. Out of the abundance of our lives, we return to God a portion of what God has given us. Collectively, we dedicate thousands of hours each year, offering care to fellow parishioners and to others in need. Some of the opportunities sponsored by the Congregational Council include:
- The Arts Committee seeks to inspire spirituality, imagination, and talent through the visual, musical, performing, and literary arts.
- The Community Committee brings together various small groups to build and support fellowship.
- Trinity’s Education Committee fosters the faith formation of congregation members.
- The Hospitality Committee offers welcome to parishioners and visitors alike.
- Trinity’s Witness and Outreach Committee works to create social change and effect equality and respect for all people.
To accomplish these Christian ministries and missions, Trinity Church allocates substantial funding. If Trinity’s 2017 stewardship pledges were applied to congregational ministry and mission, the current commitments would cover about three-fourths of the congregation’s work of the spirit.
For 2018, we ask you to consider committing to an increase in your pledge of annual support to Trinity’s work in the service of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you donate but have not pledged yet, we ask you to consider converting your donations and committing to a firm amount for the coming year. Our goal is to increase pledging households by 50 percent or more for 2018.
Giving at Trinity Church Wall Street is rooted in the faith of Jesus Christ and in the joy of doing God’s work in the world. A pledge of financial support to Trinity Church Wall Street is, above all, a spiritual commitment as “faithful stewards of His bounty.” To pledge and give at whatever amount is to return to God what God has given us in the abundance of life.
A pledge of financial support is a spiritual commitment to help fund the ministries of Trinity’s vital work in the world. Financial contributions are an essential addition to our endowment income, supporting Trinity’s far-reaching ministries.
We invite every member of our extended Trinity Church/ St. Paul’s Chapel and online family to consider, with heartfelt prayer and reflection, making your pledge of financial support. If you have donated occasionally or given anonymously before, we thank you for your gifts and urge you to consider joining the growing community of parishioners and friends of Trinity who have placed their pledges on record. Pledging indicates a special level of commitment, and we want to include everyone in the pledging process! Our goal for the coming year is to increase by 50% the number of Trinity’s parishioners and friends who pledge.
How much should I give?
Giving is a personal decision, to be prayerfully discerned. All financial contributions to Trinity of any amount are welcome. What is important is that you make a pledge—a commitment—to God, our church, and its mission. The amount of your pledge will be kept confidential, and if your circumstances change after you have made your pledge, you can notify the Vicar or Development Office to adjust the amount.
How do I pledge?
To pledge online, click on the “Pledge and Give Online” button below, which will take you to Trinity’s third-party website, GivingFire.
From there, click “Create an Account” in the upper right corner, which will take you to a new page where you will be asked to create a password and agree to GivingFire’s terms and conditions. Once you have verified your email, you will be able to sign in to your account and see your Donor Dashboard, where you can modify recurring gifts and see your donation history.
View a printable PDF of the above instructions here.
Please note that any online donations made when you are not logged into your GivingFire account will NOT be counted toward your pledge. All pledgers are encouraged to sign up for an account so that Trinity can track your online pledge payments.
You will receive an acknowledgment from the church, noting the amount you have pledged and thanking you for your contribution.
How do I honor my pledge?
Pledges can be paid as a single gift or by your desired installments, such as weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
All pledging households will receive offering envelopes that may be put in the collection plate at any of the liturgies at Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel. If you are unable to join us physically, you may also use this envelope to mail your pledge to the church office.
You also have the option to set up regular payments directly to Trinity through your bank's bill-pay system, or donate online via credit or debit card through a secure online donation platform. This platform allows you to schedule recurring payments on a weekly, monthly, or other basis, or make one-time donations to Trinity. All electronic transactions are secure, safe, and private.
Online pledgers are invited to place their empty offering envelope in the collection plate at any service as both a sign and witness of their participation.
All pledgers will receive financial statements quarterly, including a final statement at the end of the year. It is a good way to keep track of your pledge and to make sure that all of your contributions have been correctly recorded.
Are there benefits of giving?
We pray that you are richly blessed as your gift is used to bless others. All pledging members get the satisfaction of participating even more fully in the life of the church and becoming stakeholders in our common mission and work.
All members who are contributors of record may vote at our annual elections and may participate in elected or appointed office. For more information about membership, please contact the Rev. Elizabeth Blunt at 646.216.6482 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We invite you to join the 2017 Trinity Giving Campaign and becoming one of the “good and wise stewards” in the Kingdom of God. Thank you.
