Music and the Arts is dedicated to promoting lifelong engagement with music through a comprehensive program of educational opportunities, cultural activities, and free access to Trinity's acclaimed performances. Trinity carries out this vision through extensive educational youth programs and partnerships with underserved schools and communities throughout New York City. Through these efforts, Trinity provides free opportunities for all to experience music at the highest level of excellence.
Fostering Music in the Community
Trinity supports youth from underserved communities in their musical, academic, social, and emotional development, primarily through the study, performance, and appreciation of diverse genres of music. Among its various outreach partners is Hour Children (an organization assisting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children), for which Trinity provides teaching artists and music education programs. Trinity also partners with community centers such as the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning to stream live webcasts for the community in Queens, New York.
Fostering Music in Schools
Music and the Arts outreach maintains a student-centered philosophy of education, catering to the individual goals of each school, while addressing core and educational standards. From Trinity's teaching artists and webcasts to classroom curricula and live Concerts at One participation, Trinity provides highly interactive educational experiences to hundreds of students. Its engaging curricula is designed for all teachers, regardless of music background, while specific partnerships provide teaching artists to work within the schools to develop choral and instrumental ensembles. In addition, Trinity offers professional development and educational opportunities for teachers at partnering schools.
