11:15am Sermon, The Rev. Clayton Crawley: "Take Up Your Cross"

November 15, 2020

Today’s Gospel reading of the “Parable of the talents” when taken at face value seems to have a strange message regarding the rich and the poor. Is Jesus really telling us that billionaires deserve to become richer while the poor must struggle to cover rent? No, preaches the Rev. Clayton Crawley. It is in fact a call to use our God-given gifts, to actively manage what we have, not bury it, which, during a pandemic may mean simply: to pray. “Right now, pray without ceasing and you will find what you have will be multiplied agin and again. You will be blessed and you will be a blessing.” The readings are Judges 4:1-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and Matthew 25:14-30.
