Compline by Candlelight: November 25, 2018

December 2, 2018

Find peace and stillness as you end one week and begin the next. Experience Compline by Candlelight in the tranquility of St. Paul’s Chapel, one of the oldest buildings in New York City, Sundays at 8pm. Come as you are, find a seat, and hold a candle. For thirty minutes let mantra-like, chant-based improvised music by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street wash over you. There’s nothing to do but listen.

Compline comes from the Latin word complete—and this week-ending service is one of the oldest in the Christian church. Now Compline is more popular than ever as residents search for an oasis of calm amid bustling Lower Manhattan. Compline is open to and appropriate for those of any or no faith background.
