Monday Sermon, The Rev. Winnie Varghese: "The Stories We Choose to Tell"
In observance of the Feast of St. Luke, the Rev. Winnie Varghese invites us to consider the types of storytellers we are and aspire to be; from our validating interpretations of scripture, to our constructed, personal histories, what we tell–and retell–matters. “Do we tell a story of hope against hope? Of oppression or of resistance? Of conniving or of striving? Of endless violence or peace-filled futures? Of the inevitability of inequity or the promise of justice? This is the task of community, leaders, and faith. Luke reminds us we see can the glorious acts of God through time in our stories, so let us.” The scriptures are Ecclesiasticus 38:1-4, 6-10, 12-14; 2 Timothy 4:5-13; and Luke 4:14-21.
