Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles: "The Ten Commandments, Revisited"

March 7, 2021

“In times of crisis,” preaches the Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles, “often less words are more.” In response to today’s scriptures and the writings of the Rev. Ana Levy-Lyons, Mother Kristin distills the Ten Commandments, or “utterances,” into ten words: devotion, discernment, restraint, rest, awareness, reverence, resourcefulness, wholeness, truth-telling, and release. These ten words are designed to help us listen to creation, give us courage to act, and guide us to “be our own Moses” when our next step is in question. The readings are Exodus 20:1–17; Psalm 19:1–9, 14; 1 Corinthians 1:18–25; and John 2:13–22.
