Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Winnie Varghese: "Care in a World Defined by Sin"

February 21, 2021

“Sin will tell you: this is the best we can do; these are the ways of the world; God could not possibly love you as you are.” So sometimes we need a catastrophe – like a biblical flood or even a snowstorm in Texas – to help us accept our vulnerability to the pernicious cunning of our personal, inherited, and collective sins. Do not underestimate your capacity to sin, preaches the Rev. Winnie Varghese, nor God’s compassion to forgive: “God’s grace is unearned, waiting, abundant, and already done.” The readings are Genesis 9:8-17; Psalm 25:1-9; 1 Peter 3:18-22; and Mark 1:9-15.
